it is a strange feeling that every letter i write now, might be read by anyone all over the world. my weblog is online since this morning. writing is the same, the result might be different. for a long time i have been considering to get my own website and my own weblog and now everything seems to work.
no reactions sofar by email, but already a number by phone or email. people i have not seen for many years react. shopkeepers, for example where i buy flowers talk about the fisherman and friends phone to congratulate me on the succes of getting the fisherman realised. it is strange to get so much attention. i am not used to that kind of reactions and prefer to continue working as if nothing has changed.
but things are different. having dreams is one thing, getting them realised is something else. now that one dream is realised there is a lot of selfconfidence and energy to start with the next dream. getting a dream is an easy job that does not take much time and energy. getting dreams however realised takes time, energy and endurance. so the gap between the number of dreams about projects and the number of projects realised gets only wider.
the fisherman took more then 8 years. the first proposal was made for dunkerque along the channel. then the work started to get the fisherman realised in helsinki, but after many trips to finland and hundreds of meetings, the project was declared "impossible" and "the matter concluded".
the project has finally been realised in rotterdam. i think that rotterdam is a very good place for the fisherman. so when you are an artist and have some ideas for a big project, come to rotterdam and forget helsinki.
