i want to make clear what i did and what i had in mind.

it is time to present more material on the website and tell more about myself and my work. i worked hard and hardly took time to inform others about the backgrounds of what i did and why i did it. now because of the website i want to make clear what i did and what i had in mind. recently katie sent me a quote from ella fitzgerald: "It' s not where you have been, it is were you are going..."
my website is growing fast. every week new (old) pictures and material are loaded. so my pojects are finallty accessible for many. for years i made books to present my projects, to start my projects and to make the final presentations. quite a number of my books were handprinted in editions of 250 or more and given away. now however with the internet things are so much easier and so much more accessible. i know that the website functions so to speak. my pdf material has been downloaded and printed and has been used as presentation material in several countries.

it is time to present more material on the website and tell more about myself and my work. so far i just worked and worked and worked over the last 20 years and hardly had time to reflect on what i did and why i did it. now i want to present my work, make clear what i did and what i had in mind. recently katie sent me a quote from ella fitzgerald: "It' s not where you have been, it is were you are going..."

Well that is what my work is about, about continuous development, continous movement, vitality, life in general. there is a story that either theo van doesburg or piet mondriaan lived in a "de stijl" house near paris and even painted the tulips he got in the right colour so they would fit in the total design of the place. i would not be able to live in a house like that: i do not like dead houses or dead areas. i saw pictures from originally very purist looking familyhouses, designed by le corbusier, somewhere in france, where inhabitants had changed almost everything that could be changed. i guess that if i had lived there i would have done the same.

i have been working for many days now and realise that i am getting less and less interested in design. i do not care so much anymore about what is happening in the world of design, architecture and film. i just saw a recent issue of wallpaper. the wallpaper website calls the magazine the most authoritative and most influential design magazine. but i missed something challenging, something special, something new/different/refreshing. for me it was too much of the same, too much in the same style and too much paper. i am sure that the editors did their utmost best to make a good magazine and at the same time i can hardly believe that there was so little that draw my attention and kept it.

i am spoiled by the liveliness in our area, by the lively pictures everyday on tv and the many cooking programmes, with spices and herbs and vegetables from all over the world: but i love that: that is what my work is based on, that is what i would like to present om my website, that is what i want to show and i will do my best. suggestions however are always welcome.
