the english channel is of great interest, the strait of gibraltar, the suez canal, the bosporus, but also the bab of mandeb, the strait of hormuz, the palk strait and many more. in fact all those narrow waters between countries. i have considered making large objects, connecting those and many more others. i never made proposals probably because of lack of time.
getting an idea is one thing. making a presentation is something else. getting the idea realised often takes years of work, sometimes without realisation. allthough there many ideas i feel that i can only bring some to . it is sad but that is the way it is. i often see ideas from artists that are great and inspiring and hope to see them realised one day, alllthough the ideas were never meant for realisation.
quite often people wonder that i call myself an artist as most of my time is spent with organising. now with the new project with the frame, the dutch mill and the tulips the story is the same. getting the idea, which frans van praet did is one thing getting it realsied is something else. but nonethelss i feel that frans who came up with the idea and i can call ourselves artists.
today i spent again many hours searching on the internet for huge ducks, yellow ducks and big ducks and found a lot. the idea that the yellow duck could be a cultural icon is interesting. i am getting more and more convinced that this kind of icon could be a very interesting.
but that is not enough to make a proposal for a project.
