the idea for this installation is part of a series of other works. table no 1, the house project in pori, finland, the drawings for hoorn belong series. all deal with the theme of building without being an archtitect or with non functional buildings.
for me these projects were essential, offering me the possiblity to realise ideas that were not very common and required a lot of space and assistance.
the first ideas dealt with an aprtment on the thrid floor, which was made inaccsible in such a way that the installation so to speak even came out of the windows and the staircase. in the exhibition space however htis was inpossible as we did not want to takew th risk of fire or other vandalism. the doors of the space were therefore closed for safety reasons during the hours that there was no staff at the exhibition space.
in this installation an exhibition space is made inaccesible with scaffoldmaterial by the guests during the opening and made accesible again by the guests at the last day. the space was open, but no one could enter.
the installation was realised in close co-operation with
ingrid wielema, aljen van dijken, jannis van dijken, john dohmen, maarten fleuren, paul gisberts, koen klinkers, lia kolen, glauke pieters, anje rubingh, hans stevens, marian van stiphout, marre streutker and ad de wolf
