In september 2006, a 10 m. high fisherman, holding a 22 m. long fishing rod, was situated on the southern bank of the river Maas.
The fisherman has been built by 300 students from vocational schools from Rotterdam and the surroundings of the city and 300 nonstudents.
The project clearly shows that students from many different nationalities (Rotterdam: 600.000 inhabitants, 175 nationalities) are talented, can inspire each other, work together and can handle complicated projects.
The tulip project is based on the same principle: choose a simple theme and allow as many pupils and students as possible from basic schools and vocational schools (junior and senior) to participate in the project, help them where necessary and give them a chance to show what they can do.
